The US-based company plans to cut 1,400 roles in operations and technology under the next phase of its \u201cWin Now\u201d turnaround plan, as stated in an memo by COO Venkatesh Alagirisamy<\/p>\n

Chief Operating Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy wrote that the company is in the \u201cfinal stretch\u201d of its \u2018Win Now\u2019 turnaround plan<\/strong>. Changes include the modernisation of manufacturing processes, the reallocation of resources, and the restructuring of Nike\u2019s technology team. This will result in 1,400 job cuts across global operations<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is t<\/strong>he second round of layoffs this year<\/strong>; in January, Nike announced that around 800 jobs would be cut as it consolidated its US distribution centre operations across facilities in Tennessee and Mississippi. Just weeks later, Converse announced its own job cuts, although the number of people affected was not disclosed at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201c(\u2026) We will continue evolving global operations to better serve athletes and the business<\/strong> with more speed, simplicity, and precision\u201d. He added: \u201cSome of that work is happening now and more will continue over time as we align our teams, capabilities, and footprint to the future needs of the company\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nike plans to overhaul its technology divisio<\/strong>n<\/strong> in order to better align with business priorities, streamline decision-making processes, and concentrate resources in key hubs, including its Philip H. Knight Campus and its technology centre in India.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The company is also modernising its Air manufacturing operations across facilities in the US and Vietnam<\/strong>, with the aim of improving efficiency, increasing flexibility, and supporting future product innovation.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, it intends to relocate certain Converse footwear manufacturing and engineering roles closer to its factory partners<\/strong> to foster collaboration.
