The European Union will seek from Google\u2019s parent company, Alphabet, to\u00a0provide equal opportunities for other artificial intelligence chatbots on\u00a0the Android system, where Gemini is\u00a0the \u00abdefault\u00bb.<\/p>\n

According to Bloomberg, EU\u00a0regulators are ready to\u00a0outline their requirements for the company so\u00a0that ChatGPT or\u00a0Anthropic products have the same access to\u00a0features on\u00a0Android as\u00a0Google\u2019s Gemini.<\/p>\n

This move is\u00a0dictated by\u00a0the EU\u2019s Digital Markets Act, which sets a\u00a0number of\u00a0rules for the actions of\u00a0large technology companies, and which has already drawn the ire of\u00a0the White House for \u00aban\u00a0unfair attack on\u00a0American companies.\u00bb<\/p>\n

The EU, according to\u00a0the publication, aims to\u00a0pressure Google to\u00a0redesign its services in\u00a0a\u00a0way that allows competing AI\u00a0companies to\u00a0access key features of\u00a0the Android operating system.<\/p>\n

The point is\u00a0that competing AI\u00a0services should be\u00a0given an\u00a0equally effective level of\u00a0access to\u00a0Android features, such as\u00a0voice activation and certain search tools, as\u00a0well as\u00a0the ability to\u00a0integrate competing AI\u00a0apps with other Android software.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0dev.ua previously reported, Google now requires Android developers to\u00a0verify their identity, otherwise they will lose the ability to\u00a0download applications from third-party sources.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0addition, Google will make it\u00a0more difficult to\u00a0install apps from unknown sources on\u00a0Android and will introduce a\u00a0new check.<\/p>\n
