Instagram is officially spinning off its ‘Shots’ feature into a standalone app, though I’m not exactly sure who it is for.<\/p>\n

The app is essentially a Snapchat equivalent, and while Threads could somewhat thrive because of the X\/Twitter hate, I’m not sure if a similar Snapchat exodus will take place. <\/p>\n

It’s time to venture outside of the usual social apps with these hand-picked Android releases<\/p>\n

The arrival of the app, named Instants, was first pointed out by ‘social media consultant’ Matt Navarra on Threads. I tried to download it on both Android and iOS, but the app appears to be unavailable in Canada, at least for now. <\/p>\n

Despite that, the listing makes it very (very) clear what the app is all about. It’s a Snapchat alternative, but, in 2026. <\/p>\n
