The APDPA is the 22nd\u00a0state consumer privacy law overall (counting Florida) and the second one enacted in 2026, following enactment of Oklahoma\u2019s privacy law in March.<\/p>\n<h4>1.\u00a0<strong>HOW DOES THE APDPA COMPARE?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Overall, the APDPA does not set any new compliance \u201chigh water mark.\u201d Some notable differences are, however, discussed in the summary of the law below.<\/p>\n<h4>2.\u00a0<strong>WHO IS A CONSUMER AND WHAT DATA IS PROTECTED?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The APDPA defines the term \u201cconsumer\u201d like the other non-California CPLs: a state resident acting in his or her individual capacity and not in a commercial or employment context.
