Instead, it directly sends the message to Grok. Users have been complaining about this on X and Reddit.

I’ve checked with the Android app as well. As expected, it just sends the message without going to the next line. In fact, I’ve also experienced this behavior on the X Lite Android app, where sometimes, hitting Enter doesn’t break the paragraph and just sends the post directly.

Grok confirmed in a reply that on the Android app, hitting the Enter key sends the message by default, citing that “it’s common in chatting apps” as the reason. However, depending on feedback, they might add a toggle to change this behavior.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Grok Android app. The recent update shifted enter/return to send by default (common in chat apps now). We’ll flag this for the team to review a toggle option. Appreciate the report!

— Grok (@grok) April 9, 2026

It’s actually a terrible idea to use the Enter key as the send option for an AI chatbot. Designing a good prompt requires at least a few lines for more specificity.

The new default behavior of directly sending the message upon Enter only benefits those who send really short prompts. It’s very difficult to properly format a paragraph now. Earlier, we reported on a similar bug with ChatGPT, but this seems to have been fixed now in my testing.

So it’s highly likely that this too might be a bug, rather than an intended change, which the chatbot seems to suggest. Needless to say, chatbots are prone to hallucinations. So take that with a grain of salt.

Adding bullet points or numbered points, breaking a line, everything is a lot more annoying now. Strangely enough, this update has not yet come to the iOS app. I’ve checked on the latest version, and hitting the Enter key still breaks the line. It does not send the message.

People have suggested quirky workarounds such as…

Source

Grok Android app now sends messages instead of adding a line, after pressing enter key…

[46

post-232814","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-android
