But he also acknowledges that many of the fears surrounding AI are, in fact, legitimate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bruce Ross spent more than a decade as RBC\u2019s head of technology before <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">taking<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> on the new role in February. The AI group he now leads\u2014reporting directly to CEO Dave McKay\u2014folds in Borealis, the bank\u2019s in-house research lab founded in 2016, which <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">helped<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> position the lender as an early player in the machine learning field.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 class=\"article-content__talking-points-title\"\/>\n<p>Talking Points<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During its investor day in March 2025, RBC CEO Dave McKay said the bank expects to generate between $700 million and $1 billion in enterprise value by 2027 from AI<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to London-based Evident\u2019s 2025 report on the state of AI in banking, three of Canada\u2019s Big Six banks rank among the top 10 globally for the number of AI researchers hired<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s helped place RBC among global front-runners. According to AI benchmarking and intelligence platform Evident\u2019s 2025 State of AI Research in Banking <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">report<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, RBC is Canada\u2019s highest-scoring bank for AI maturity in its index of 50 international banks, and ranks third globally.
