Bloomberg\u2018s Mark Gurman says Apple is working on \u201cthe biggest set of iPhone revamps in the product\u2019s history.\u201d Gurman was referring to Apple\u2019s much-expected foldable iPhone, as well as a 20th-anniversary iPhone said to sport a truly \u201cedge-to-edge\u201d design.<\/p>\n

Gurman\u2018s comments came in an in-depth profile of Apple\u2019s head of hardware engineering John Ternus, who many consider to be the heir apparent when current company CEO Tim Cook steps down. Gurman said Ternus is\u00a0\u201coverseeing the biggest set of iPhone revamps in the product\u2019s history, including a foldable model this year and a version with an edge-to-edge screen that could arrive as early as 2027, for the device\u2019s 20th anniversary.\u201d<\/p>\n

The foldable iPhone is expected to debut alongside Apple\u2019s iPhone 18 lineup in September, while any \u201c20th-anniversary iPhone\u201d would debut in 2027. (Apple debuted the original iPhone in January 2007.)<\/p>\n

While Gurman\u2019s article focused on Ternus, meaning little in the way of details about the two iPhones were revealed in the article, we do know a but about both handsets.<\/p>\n

The foldable iPhone is expected to open up like a book, providing a wider screen when open. iOS 27 is expected to allow side-by-side apps on the new foldable. Recently, it was reported that the \u201ciPhone Fold\u201d would boast an 5.3-in outer display and a 7.7-in inner display. Apple is said to have developed technology that reduces the inner display\u2019s crease \u201cwithout eliminating it entirely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the foldable device to boast two rear cameras, a single front camera, and Touch ID built-into the power button.<\/p>\n

Reports about the 20th-anniversary iPhone have indicated that the device will have a seamless design, a curved glass enclosure. and a front-facing camera under the screen, meaning no cutouts in the display.<\/p>\n
