It’s really very helpful for me to understand what’s going on in the world and to see if there are policies that are taking place elsewhere that we should be adopting here,” Smith told listeners of her Saturday radio show.

“So I use it. My ministers use it. We’re using it to analyze a huge amount of data. That’s the one of the best things that AI can be used for is that a human brain can only process so much data, and AI can process it very quickly, so that we can use it and understand it and how to make decisions,” Smith said.

“You still have to check for errors. … I mean, what I always say is give me a sort of a framework of what your interpretation is, and then let’s talk to a real person to see if that washes — and it’s working really well for us.”

Smith acknowledged concern that AI might replace “certain types of jobs.”

“I guess the way I’ve always looked at, and I think I’ve said it here before, is that a person who knows how to use AI is going to replace a person who doesn’t know how to use AI. It’s going to be a tool to make us all more productive,” the premier said.

However, in response to a question from program host Wayne Nelson, Smith also said her government is looking at what safeguards should be in place against harmful AI use, and what the guidelines should be in schools.

Worry about fake images

“The ones that I’m worried about are the deepfakes of people being duped into thinking because of a person looking like a real person and sounding like him, that that is a real image. So there will be some legislation that is around…

Source

Alberta looking at legislation to rein in the harmful side of artificial intelligence, Smith says…

https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/s7Irja9TiIhQK.w3yCx1vg--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTEyMDA7aD05MDA7Y2Y9d2VicA--/https://media.zenfs.com/en/edmonton_journal_articles_165/eec0ffc9a9c9dbfe10d28a3e4234ecac
[14

post-226316","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-artificial-intelligence
