Google launches its Pixel phones in two tranches. One is the launch that happens around October-November. That one sees the top-end Pixels coming to the market. In India, we saw the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold in that launch. Then there is one in the early months of a year, when the mainstream Pixel hits the market. On this occasion the phone is the Pixel 10a, which is now available in India at an MRP of Rs 49,999.<\/p>\n

The way it has happened with the Pixel phones so far, Google is conservative when it comes to hardware. I see the same in the Pixel 10a, which is close to its predecessor in terms of its hardware and capabilities. But Google has, so far, never been about raw hardware. Instead, the company aims to offer a particular kind of Android experience with its phones and hopes that people will like it. <\/p>\n

The Pixel 10a embodies the same idea. It is a phone that doesn\u2019t claim to give users blazing fast speed, or a gigantic battery, or some flashy design elements. Instead, it aims to be a daily-driver for people who just want a dependable, easy-to-carry and easy-to-use phone. In that aspect, the Pixel 10a more or less succeeds. Though not entirely. <\/p>\n

Compact, minimalistic, and functional<\/h3>\n

In the age of large phones, which also carry on their back ever-larger camera modules, the Pixel 10a is refreshingly compact and minimalistic. In fact, it is a phone that harks back to the era when we did not have the bulging camera modules because the two rear cameras in the Pixel 10a sit flushed, like completely flushed, with the rear cover. <\/p>\n

This alone, I believe, will make the phone appealing to some users. It also gives the phone a minimalistic look, which too nods to an era where phones were utility devices and not something that you needed to flaunt.
