Aster has launched the mainnet of its privacy-focused Layer 1 blockchain, aiming to address one of DeFi\u2019s biggest structural weaknesses, transparency. The $ASTER<\/span> token rose about 8% following the announcement but has since retraced some of those gains, trading near $0.77 at press time.<\/p>\n

The decentralized perpetual futures exchange, backed by YZi Labs, introduced Aster Chain with built-in zero-knowledge encryption that allows traders to execute transactions through one-time stealth addresses. The design breaks the link between wallet identities and trading activity, making positions invisible to other market participants by default.<\/p>\n

Alongside the launch, Aster described the release as the beginning of a phased rollout, starting with \u201cChain Genesis\u201d and followed by partnerships, public staking for $ASTER<\/span> holders, and broader ecosystem expansion. In a post on X, the team framed the product around privacy-first trading, writing that transactions settle on-chain but remain hidden from public view, with optional disclosure through a viewer pass system.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Officer Leonard said the goal is to eliminate a key vulnerability in onchain markets, where full transparency can expose traders to exploitation.<\/p>\n

The launch comes as decentralized derivatives markets scale rapidly. Trading volume across perpetual DEX platforms reached roughly $14 trillion as of March 2026, according to DefiLlama data, up sharply from the prior year as users shift away from centralized exchanges toward onchain alternatives.<\/p>\n

Aster is already among the largest players in that market, processing around $3.2 billion to $3.3 billion in daily trading volume. It sits behind market leader Hyperliquid, which handles roughly $8.4 billion in daily volume, but ahead of a growing field of competitors racing to capture market…<\/p>\n
