Now the iPhone 17e has officially launched, the next big phone of interest from Apple is likely to be its first folding model, perhaps called the iPhone Fold (for analysis of other names, read this). A new report suggests what it will be like.<\/p>\n

An All-New Design And Shape<\/h2>\n

The new information comes from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, who has a clear description of what the phone will look like \u2014 something which has extra authority because it chimes with earlier iPhone Fold rumors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe product \u2014 Apple\u2019s long-awaited entry into the category \u2014 will feature an interior foldable display roughly the size of an iPad mini, according to people with knowledge of the matter. There also will be an external screen that\u2019s about the size of the display on a small iPhone,\u201d Gurman reported.<\/p>\n

If, like me, your main problem with a folding phone is that when they\u2019re open they have an almost square screen, you\u2019ll see that this could be the solution.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not just me who thinks this, it seems. \u201cThe inside display will use a wide aspect ratio, a departure from the narrower formats of foldable phones currently on the market. That should be a key selling point, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the project is still under wraps,\u201d Gurman went on.<\/p>\n

He also commented that such a display shape is much better for watching video, for instance, and that it could make it easier for app developers who can redesign their iPhone apps to be closer to what appears on an iPad.<\/p>\n

The Battle Against The Crease<\/h2>\n

Gurman said that Apple had decided along with the screen shape leading to a narrow internal display, the main issue with foldables was the visible crease between the two halves of the inner screen.<\/p>\n
