The 2022 model was a total redesign that bumped its performance with the M2 chip and also improved a number of key components. It was also the first MacBook Air to drop the signature tapered design, and Apple added a 15-inch model one year later to boot. Since then, Apple\u2019s primarily focused on making sure it has a new chip every year \u2014 we\u2019re already up to the M5, if you can believe it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">As such, the latest MacBook Air is an expected update that doesn\u2019t change the game. Not that it needed changing: it\u2019s been our favorite ultraportable laptop for years now. But the Air\u2019s place in Apple\u2019s lineup has changed with the simultaneous introduction of the $599 MacBook Neo. And unfortunately, Apple didn\u2019t keep the $999 price that last year\u2019s M4 MacBook Air hit; it\u2019s back up to $1,099, the same price as the M2 and M3 models. Now that there\u2019s the new, inexpensive MacBook Neo out there, who is the MacBook Air for? While I haven\u2019t used the Neo yet, I\u2019m pretty comfortable answering that question: it\u2019s still for almost anyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"absolute -right-0.5 bottom-0 rounded-bl-none rounded-br-lg rounded-tl-lg rounded-tr-none bg-white\/90 px-3 py-2 text-[10px]\/3 text-battleship\">Apple \/ Engadget<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s MacBook Air is faster but otherwise unchanged, but that doesn\u2019t stop it from being one of the best laptops you can buy.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"space-x-2 text-lg\/6 font-bold uppercase\"><span>Pros<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"mt-2 pl-6 leading-relaxed @xl\/p:text-lg\/[30px]\">\n<li class=\"list-disc\">Fast performance<\/li>\n<li class=\"list-disc\">Solid, thin and light design<\/li>\n<li class=\"list-disc\">Excellent trackpad and keyboard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"space-x-2 text-lg\/6 font-bold uppercase\"><span>Cons<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"mt-2 pl-6 leading-relaxed @xl\/p:text-lg\/[30px]\">\n<li class=\"list-disc\">Screen is only 60Hz<\/li>\n<li class=\"list-disc\">Could use another port<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"heading-mb col-body heading-text-style font-bold charcoal-color\" data-jump-link-target=\"\" id=\"the-essentials-havent-changed\">The essentials haven\u2019t changed<\/h2>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">While the latest MacBook Air is physically unchanged from its 2022 revision, I don\u2019t have a problem with that. I find the Air to be the Platonic ideal of a laptop that most people will be hard-pressed to find issues with. The 13.6-inch (or 15.3-inch, if you opt for the bigger size) display isn\u2019t the most cutting edge screen out there, but it\u2019s still sharp, bright and colorful.
