In this age where nearly everyone relies on a smart phone, scammers have developed new methods of deception intended to trick unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\n

The latest scam making the rounds is a surge in fake calendar invites containing spam links targeting Apple users, according to a report by Newsweek.<\/p>\n

These spam alerts often find their way into the Calendar app after a user accidentally clicks on a bad link on a website or in a message, the report explained.<\/p>\n

These \u201cunwanted Calendar invitations and subscriptions\u201d are identified by Apple as a form of phishing, a common tactic of social engineering in which scammers use fraudulent attempts in an effort to learn the personal information of individuals.<\/p>\n

Those who\u2019ve found themselves with suspicious spam invitations in the Calendar app are advised by Apple to report it as junk in iCloud. If you have unintentionally subscribed to a spam Calendar, you can delete it.<\/p>\n

To delete calendar spam on an iPhone in iOS 14.6 or later:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Open the Calendars app. <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Tap the event you wish to remove.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Tap \u201cunsubscribe from this Calendar\u201d at the bottom of the screen.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. To confirm, tap unsubscribe.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To delete calendar spam on an iPhone in earlier versions of iOS:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Open the Calendar app.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Tap Calendars at the bottom of the screen.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Find the calendar you do not recognize and tap the More info button next to that calendar.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Scroll down and tap Delete Calendar.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If that doesn\u2019t work, delete the calendar subscription in settings:<\/p>\n

      1. Open the Settings app.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Tap Calendar, go to Accounts. If you use iOS 13, tap Passwords & Accounts then Accounts.<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Tap Subscribed Calendars.<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Look for a calendar you wish to remove and tap it<\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Select Delete Account.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
