The mobile Amazon Fire TV experience is taking on a new look with a few thoughtful UI changes and smart features that look genuinely exciting. Amazon says the experience will come in the form of a free update for users.<\/p>\n

Detailed in a press release from Amazon, the Fire TV launcher on mobile is getting a makeover. The overarching theme appears to be \u201cease of use,\u201d which seems like a good foundation for this update. Amazon wants the mobile app to be a companion for the Fire TV experience on TVs.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest and superficial changes will position the app as a way to browse and discover content before watching it on your TV. Amazon says users can also manage watchlists on the app, which is a common feature among streaming apps for mobile.<\/p>\n

The app will also act as a secondary remote, with full remote control functionality for TVs signed in to the user\u2019s Amazon account. That should make it easier to queue up new episodes and movies from the app instead of using a physical remote, if that\u2019s your thing.<\/p>\n

A lot of the UI changes will mirror what Amazon announced in February for the Fire TV OS as a whole. That means an updated design language with better typography and menus, alongside seemingly smarter content recommendations. Amazon also launched a new Ember Artline TV with presence sensing for only $899, and it looks great.<\/p>\n

Amazon\u2019s TV UI change is live on the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, 4K Max (2nd gen), and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series. Amazon notes that other devices will see the update \u201clater this spring.\u201d As for the mobile Fire TV app, users in the US, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the UK will also see the new changes starting today.<\/p>\n
