{"id":219573,"date":"2026-03-03T18:05:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T23:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news-you-need.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/03\/state-governments-are-starting-to-pursue-agentic-ai\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T18:25:13","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T23:25:13","slug":"state-governments-are-starting-to-pursue-agentic-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news-you-need.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/03\/state-governments-are-starting-to-pursue-agentic-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"State governments are starting to pursue agentic AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/statescoop.com\/state-government-agentic-ai-nascio-2026\/\">State governments are starting to pursue agentic AI<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/statescoop.com\/state-government-agentic-ai-nascio-2026\/\">https:\/\/statescoop.com\/state-government-agentic-ai-nascio-2026\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Publish Date: <a href=\"publish_date]\">2026-03-03 18:05:00<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Source Domain: <a href=\"statescoop.com\">statescoop.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Instances of agentic AI, in which groups of digital agents are granted permission to automate multistep tasks without human approval, remain rare in state government, but a report published by an industry association Tuesday proposes that adoption could be on the rise.<\/p>\n<p>The report, published by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers, notes that while \u201cthis shift won\u2019t happen overnight,\u201d state governments appear to be granting their artificial intelligence agents increasing levels of autonomy. \u201cI think it is still really new,\u201d said Amy Glasscock, director of NASCIO\u2019s innovation and emerging issues program and the report\u2019s author. \u201cBut there are some states that are starting to use it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems like agentic is going to be the next step,\u201d she continued. \u201c[Generative] AI started off creating and generating content and summarizing and things like that, and now states are finding ways for it to actually do some things, do some of the work, of course with a lot of oversight still.\u201d Glasscock said a recent survey of the group\u2019s membership, which includes most of the nation\u2019s state and territorial CIOs, found eight states that are using agentic AI, though she declined to name them.<\/p>\n<p>But by drawing on public documents and news reports, the report does name several early state efforts to use agentic AI to automate low-risk tasks.
