{"id":219452,"date":"2026-03-03T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news-you-need.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/03\/half-of-us-cisos-work-the-equivalent-of-a-six-day-week\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T12:10:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T17:10:16","slug":"half-of-us-cisos-work-the-equivalent-of-a-six-day-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news-you-need.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/03\/half-of-us-cisos-work-the-equivalent-of-a-six-day-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Half of US CISOs Work the Equivalent of a Six-Day Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infosecurity-magazine.com\/news\/half-us-cisos-work-equivalent\/\">Half of US CISOs Work the Equivalent of a Six-Day Week<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infosecurity-magazine.com\/news\/half-us-cisos-work-equivalent\/\">https:\/\/www.infosecurity-magazine.com\/news\/half-us-cisos-work-equivalent\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Publish Date: <a href=\"publish_date]\">2026-03-03 09:00:00<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Source Domain: <a href=\"www.infosecurity-magazine.com\">www.infosecurity-magazine.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>US cybersecurity leaders are being put under increasing pressure to compensate for process gaps and tackle escalating threats, with many working the equivalent of six or seven days a week, according to Seemplicity.<\/p>\n<p>The security vendor polled 300 CISOs and their equivalents to produce its State of the Cybersecurity Workforce Report. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It revealed that 45% of respondents work 11+ extra hours per week \u2013 equivalent to an additional day \u2013 and 20% work an extra 16+ hours weekly.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, 44% said their role feels emotionally exhausting more often than rewarding, rising to 56% of C-level respondents.<\/p>\n<p>A further two-fifths (43%) said they\u2019re unable to take time off without creating a huge amount of stress upon their return.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the vast majority (94%) claimed they would still choose cybersecurity as a career.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>AI Is Changing the Nature of Work<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Counterintuitively, the proliferation of AI in the enterprise appears to be creating more work for CISOs by accelerating the evolution of the role into something more business centric.<\/p>\n<p>Some 85% of respondents said they feel more pressure to improve their communication, interpersonal and business skills as a result of AI adoption. And 82% report that people skills are more central to their success than they were five years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe findings suggest that the maturity of AI tools is moving the human center of gravity from execution to interpretation. As automated systems generate more outputs and handle more low-level remediation, cybersecurity leaders are increasingly responsible for resolving ambiguity, justifying trade-offs, and translating technical risk into business-relevant terms,\u201d the report claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this new environment, skills previously categorized as secondary have become operational requirements.
