Nvidia has teamed up\u00a0with a\u00a0group of\u00a0telecom companies to\u00a0make future 6G networks a\u00a0reliable platform for services and gadgets that use artificial intelligence. The company believes that 5G is\u00a0not capable of\u00a0supporting AI\u00a0on\u00a0a\u00a0mass scale.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0Bloomberg reports, Nvidia is\u00a0partnering with Nokia Oyj, SoftBank Group Corp. and T-Mobile US\u00a0Inc., which are committing to\u00a0building sixth-generation networks based on\u00a0computers and software capable of\u00a0using AI\u00a0for \u00absecure and efficient radio communications management\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Nvidia explains that this is\u00a0necessary for the many devices that will be\u00a0connected to\u00a0networks in\u00a0the future and their more complex requirements. 5G technology was designed to\u00a0connect people using voice and data and provide them with the information they receive. It\u00a0is\u00a0not capable of\u00a0supporting the widespread use of\u00a0artificial intelligence, Nvidia said.<\/p>\n

\u00abToday\u2019s networks are simply not ready for the future. In\u00a0the age of\u00a0artificial intelligence, everything is\u00a0changing. Networks will provide intelligent services not only to\u00a0people on\u00a0their phones, but also to\u00a0machines,\u00bb said Ronnie Vasishta, who heads Nvidia\u2019s telecommunications business and strategy.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0said telecommunications networks will need \u00abhundreds of\u00a0thousands of\u00a0times\u00bb more efficiency because there is\u00a0not enough radio spectrum to\u00a0support new uses.<\/p>\n

Nvidia is\u00a0interested in\u00a06G because it\u00a0is\u00a0at\u00a0the center of\u00a0the AI\u00a0\u200b\u200bboom with its chips. So\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0trying to\u00a0conquer a\u00a0new market and remove potential barriers. The company needs to\u00a0spread AI\u00a0to\u00a0other areas, such as\u00a0robots and vehicles, to\u00a0continue to\u00a0drive demand and pay for data centers, which are currently the biggest consumers of\u00a0its technology.<\/p>\n
