The company has confirmed that it originally planned to debut the feature on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, though a few technical challenges delayed its implementation. The feature may make its way to more future Galaxy models.

Samsung took a year to perfect its Privacy Display technology

Samsung’s Privacy Display is undoubtedly a substantial leap in screen privacy. The feature limits screen visibility from side angles to protect users from prying eyes. The company first proposed the idea of such technology around three to four years ago. However, the development kicked off three years ago in collaboration with its display division.

Samsung prepared to introduce the Privacy Display last year, but it did not happen. “Our goal was to have this, to be honest with you, on the S25 Ultra,” said Won-Joon Choi, chief operating officer of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business, in an interview. “We were almost there. But we had to kind of solve a couple of the last challenges. So we took another year to resolve those. It has been quite a journey.”

Privacy Display is currently exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ miss out on this privacy-focused upgrade. Thankfully, Samsung is still evolving this technology to use in other future Galaxy models. “When it actually becomes mature and if we believe it’s time to propagate it to other models, we’ll consider doing so,” said Choi.

For the uninitiated, Samsung uses Flex Magic Pixel (FMP) technology to power the Privacy Display. Unlike standard privacy screen protectors that attach on top of a device, this technology is an integral part of the OLED display. It controls the light emitted by individual pixels to make the screen clearly visible in straight-on…

Source

Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display Originally Meant for S25 Ultra https://sammyguru.com/galaxy-s26-ultra-privacy-display-originally-s25-ultra/ Publish Date: 2026-02-27 04:05:00…

[16

post-217970","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-privacy
