Apple yesterday announced plans to start manufacturing the Mac mini in the US and has now shared more details of the initiative, alongside photos and video footage.<\/p>\n

Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company is also accelerating production of AI servers made in the Houston plant where the Mac mini models will be assembled \u2026 <\/p>\n

The initial reveal was made by the company\u2019s COO in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n

Sabih Khan, Apple\u2019s chief operating officer, shared the development as part of a video interview with The Wall Street Journal. \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to tell you that later this year we will be beginning Mac mini manufacturing right here in this space,\u201d Khan tells the Journal during a tour of a Foxconn facility in Houston, Texas.<\/p>\n

Cook added that production of AI servers to power Apple Intelligence is being stepped up at the same time.<\/p>\n

\u201cApple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing, and we\u2019re proud to significantly expand our footprint in Houston with the production of Mac mini starting later this year,\u201d said Tim Cook, Apple\u2019s CEO. \u201cWe began shipping advanced AI servers from Houston ahead of schedule, and we\u2019re excited to accelerate that work even further.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple first revealed plans for US server production back in August, with an update in October saying that things were going well.<\/p>\n

The company said that adding Mac mini assembly would double the size of the Houston campus. Additionally, it will be establishing an Advanced Manufacturing Center in the city in order to provide US businesses with training in advanced manufacturing techniques.<\/p>\n

Later this year, Apple\u2019s 20,000-square-foot Advanced Manufacturing Center is scheduled to open its doors in Houston. Currently under construction, the dedicated facility will provide hands-on training in advanced manufacturing techniques to students, supplier employees, and American businesses of all sizes.
