This includes both improving existing Nvidia Linux drivers, as well as driving better support for Vulkan and Proton. The latter certainly caught our interest, as it will be relevant to any Linux PC gamer \u2013 especially those interested in SteamOS or similar distros.<\/p>\n<p>AMD continues to be the go-to choice for anyone wishing to game on Linux thanks to better support and performance. The company has long offered open-source graphics drivers for Linux, and while its key rival, Nvidia, does have an open GPU kernel of its own for Linux, it\u2019s playing catch-up. Filling two vacancies for Linux engineers should help speed that up.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nvidia-wants-more-linux-developers-as-the-os-gets-more-popular-for-gaming\">Nvidia wants more Linux developers as the OS gets more popular for gaming<\/h2>\n<p>A new opening at Nvidia\u2019s Santa Clara headquarters is reserved for a Senior System Software Engineer focusing on Vulkan performance. The job listing reveals that tasks include \u201cdiagnosing GPU and CPU performance bottlenecks in Vulkan and Proton titles\u201d and developing a driver that \u201coffers \u201cleads the industry\u201d for quality and performance.
