The New Bedford Science Cafe will explore the concept of awkwardness during its upcoming event 6 to 8 p.m. March 3 at The Last Round Bar & Grille, 908 Purchase St., New Bedford.<\/p>\n

According to a community announcement, Maggie Jackson, an award-winning author and science writer, will present “Cringeworthy: Discovering the Overlooked Promise of Awkwardness.”<\/p>\n

Jackson, whose recent book, “Uncertain: The Wisdom and Wonder of Being Unsure,” was a National Book Award nominee, will discuss how awkwardness can positively impact human well-being. Attendees will learn about the role of awkwardness and other adverse states, such as uncertainty, in promoting mutual understanding and resilience.<\/p>\n

In today’s fast-paced world, awkward moments are often seen as undesirable disruptions. However, Jackson will highlight research suggesting that these moments can offer valuable opportunities for growth and connection.
