I&#8217;m CNN tech reporter, Clare Duffy. We&#8217;ve talked a lot about artificial intelligence on this podcast. And there&#8217;s one topic within that space that could have a massive impact on everyone&#8217;s lives if it ends up being real. It&#8217;s still pretty controversial and not well-defined. I&#8217;m talking about artificial general intelligence. Think of it as a theoretical future AI system that could be as smart as, if not smarter, than humans. A lot of people in Silicon Valley, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, say they&#8217;re on the verge of building it. And for me, that raises a few questions. Can we actually build this technology? Should we even be trying to in the first place? So I sat down with Nick Frosst to hear his thoughts on the future of AGI. He&#8217;s an AI researcher and the co-founder of the startup Cohere, which provides AI tools to businesses. In this live conversation at Ludlow House in New York City, as part of On Air Presents, Nick explains why he thinks the industry should not be focusing so much on AGI and shares his take on perhaps the biggest question surrounding this technology. You worked under Geoffrey Hinton, who is now well known as one of the godfathers of AI. You were his first hire at the Google Brain Lab in Toronto.
