This setting was known for accidentally muting alerts on the phones of passengers as well as drivers.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6406b8ac-55a8-468c-814c-d731cb0562c2-2\">Now, the old option to have Do Not Disturb turn itself on when the phone is connected to a car dashboard via Bluetooth has been added back. That&#8217;s a much more reliable indicator of whether someone is driving and whether this mode should be enabled.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"font-article-heading block pb-3 !text-base font-bold uppercase sm:text-sm text-[#333]\"><br \/>\nYou may like<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>It makes sense that you don&#8217;t necessarily want a flurry of alerts distracting you while you&#8217;re at the wheel, but it&#8217;s also important to give users control over this \u2013 and not have Do Not Disturb enabling itself without any manual interactions.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"check-for-updates-3\">Check for updates<\/h2>\n<p class=\"vanilla-image-block\" style=\"padding-top:56.25%;\">\n<p><span class=\"caption-text\">The Bluetooth option has been adding back into Settings <\/span><span class=\"credit\" itemprop=\"copyrightHolder\">(Image credit: Future)<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"a81fbf38-cd55-4ba1-bcf9-da485c333633\">Google hasn&#8217;t actually said anything officially about this, so we don&#8217;t have the full story, but as per Android Authority the update is starting to roll out across various Android devices. Version 26.05.32 of Google Play Services is the update to look out for.<\/p>\n<p>On a Pixel phone, you can check if you&#8217;ve been given the refresh by opening up Settings, then tapping <strong>Modes<\/strong> and <strong>Driving<\/strong>. If you select <strong>While driving<\/strong>, you&#8217;ll see the Bluetooth option is back, if your Google Play Services version is right up to date.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung phones actually do this best, because they also make the phone check that it&#8217;s connected to an Android Auto dashboard \u2013 not just a Bluetooth device.
