Legora, provider of an artificial intelligence (AI) platform for lawyers, is in talks on a funding round that would boost its valuation to $6 billion, Bloomberg reported\u00a0Friday (Feb. 13), citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n

The amount the company is raising is not known, and the round has not been finalized, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Reached by PYMNTS, Legora declined to comment on the report.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s collaborative\u00a0AI platform\u00a0helps lawyers review, research, draft and advise, according to its website.\u00a0It serves more than 600 law firms and in-house legal teams in over 50 markets.\u00a0Those figures are up from the 400\u00a0law firms\u00a0in 40 markets it served in October, and the 250 firms in 20 markets it served in May.<\/p>\n

Legora was valued at\u00a0$1.8 billion\u00a0in an October Series C funding round in which it raised $150 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cLegal professionals across the globe are adopting AI into their work at an unprecedented rate, and I could not be\u00a0more proud\u00a0of supporting our customers on this journey,\u201d Legora CEO and Co-founder\u00a0Max Junestrand\u00a0said at the time in a press release.<\/p>\n

Sameer Dholakia, partner at\u00a0Bessemer Venture Partners, which led the Series C funding round, said in the release that Legora has built \u201cnot just another legal tech tool, but a collaborative AI platform that elevates the practice of law itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Junestrand acknowledged AI startup\u00a0Anthropic\u2019s Jan. 30 launch of a\u00a0legal plugin\u00a0in a\u00a0post\u00a0on LinkedIn, saying that he had received messages asking about the plugin\u2019s potential impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is an important difference between a plugin and operating a collaborative, matter-centric, production-grade platform used by hundreds of the world\u2019s leading legal teams,\u201d Junestrand wrote in the post.<\/p>\n
