    A federal judge has tossed a case after berating an attorney for misusing artificial intelligence and using extensive quotes from Ray Bradbury\u2019s book \u201cFahrenheit 451.\u201d<\/p>\n

    References to author Ray Bradbury\u2019s 1953 dystopian book Fahrenheit 451, fake citations and \u201cout-of-left-field\u201d references to ancient libraries has prompted a New York federal judge to terminate a case because of a lawyer\u2019s repeated misuse of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

    Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the Southern District of New York wrote in an order last week that the \u201cextraordinary\u201d sanctions were warranted after an attorney, Steven Feldman, kept responding to requests to correct his filings with documents containing fake citations, Ars Technica reports.<\/p>\n

    One of those filings was \u201cnoteworthy,\u201d Failla said, \u201cfor its conspicuously florid prose.\u201d<\/p>\n

    Where some of Feldman\u2019s filings contained grammatical errors and run-on sentences, this filing seemed glaringly different stylistically, the story noted.<\/p>\n

    It featured, the judge pointed out in her order, \u201can extended quote from Ray Bradbury\u2019s Fahrenheit 451 and metaphors comparing legal advocacy to gardening and the leaving of indelible \u2018mark[s] upon the clay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

    According to Ars Technica, although the judge suspected that Feldman used AI to help write his filings, he testified that he wrote every word in them. He explained that he read the Bradbury book \u201cmany years ago\u201d and wanted to include \u201cpersonal things\u201d in that…
