But by partially automating HR functions, organizations are calling on AI to help steer one of the most consequential relationships between employers and employees, one where a deft human touch was long considered a requirement.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is really happening?<\/h3>\n

So,\u00a0who uses\u00a0AI products to make these kinds of decisions in HR.\u00a0A\u00a0study by\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>ResumeBuilder<\/span>\u00a0shows\u00a0that more than 60%\u00a0of managers say that\u00a0they’re\u00a0using AI agents like ChatGPT\u00a0and Google Gemini\u00a0to help them make important decisions about key employees\u00a0and\u00a0to help draft performance reviews. Almost half of those surveyed said that they use AI to help\u00a0determine\u00a0promotions, raises, and even layoffs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have to admit I’m not surprised, but I find it difficult to accept.\u00a0I want a\u00a0warm-blooded\u00a0human being\u00a0on\u00a0the other side of the desk\u00a0to help\u00a0me with my performance review.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Industry reports\u00a0are suggesting\u00a0that the proper use of artificial intelligence in the\u00a0HR\u00a0department can\u00a0lead to more\u00a0efficiency,\u00a0potentially providing\u00a0up\u00a0to\u00a025%-time\u00a0savings.\u00a0The problem is\u00a0that industry\u00a0reports also\u00a0indicate\u00a0that\u00a0only a third of the managers who use\u00a0AI\u00a0actually have\u00a0any kind of\u00a0formal\u00a0training in\u00a0how to use it properly.\u00a0About 20%\u00a0actually let the AI systems make the decisions for them without any human input at all.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
