Apple could potentially be gearing up for a major new collaboration with Elon Musk, as reports indicate that a ‘revolutionary’ feature could be on the horizon within the next iPhone release.<\/p>\n

It’s been nearly four years since Apple first introduced the option for a satellite connection with the release of the iPhone 14, and many people have championed it as a game-changing \u2013 potentially even life-saving \u2013 feature.<\/p>\n

It is rather limited when it comes to who can take advantage of it though, as only certain regions have access to it at all, and within those regions its often only supported by one provider.<\/p>\n

For example, to access satellite connections in the United States you need to be a T-Mobile customer, leaving anyone else on another network without the ability to use the handy tool.<\/p>\n

However, that could soon change if reports are to be believed, as experts are predicting a major potential collaboration between Apple and Elon Musk that would see the tech giant take advantage of Starlink satellites for its services, as per Forbes.<\/p>\n

Reports from The Information indicate that the prospective sale of Apple’s current satellite partner Globalstar could potentially open the door for another company to step in, with Musk’s Starlink being the likely and arguably best option.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, information revealed by 9to5Mac indicates that the SpaceX subsidiary is now using the same radio spectrum that Apple employs for its iPhone satellite connection, making the transition effectively seamless.<\/p>\n

It wouldn’t be entirely effortless considering the current tensions between Musk and Apple, as the world’s richest man has repeatedly called out the company amid claims that it prioritises rival services (chiefly ChatGPT, led by Musk’s ‘nemesis’ Sam Altman) on the App Store.<\/p>\n
