When I sat down with him, one theme emerged again and again: AI is not here to replace human intelligence, but it will expose whether we\u2019re willing to strengthen it.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most persistent misconceptions Kapur wants to dismantle is the fear that AI will do our thinking for us. \u201cSome people really fearing that AI is going to replace our critical thinking,\u201d he said. \u201cThey think that if we allow it to replace our critical thinking, we\u2019re going to be a bunch of dumb dumbs.\u201d The real opportunity, he argued, is the opposite. \u201cIf anything, if we can use AI to improve our thinking, it\u2019s going to improve our thinking. And it\u2019s going to provide ways we can control the AI rather than the AI control us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That framing\u2014control versus surrender\u2014runs through Kapur\u2019s entire philosophy. He urges people to stop thinking about \u201cartificial intelligence\u201d and instead focus on \u201caugmenting intelligence.\u201d As he put it, \u201cAI is not really alive.
