Starknet, an Ethereum layer-2 network, has unveiled a privacy framework that enables private transfers for all ERC20 tokens. The launch is drawing attention as privacy features gain importance in decentralized finance and on-chain payments.
The Block reported on June 9 that Starknet launched STRK20, a privacy framework based on zero-knowledge proof technology.
STRK20 is designed to protect ERC20 token balance information and support private transfers.
The technology was first implemented in strkBTC, an asset in the Starknet ecosystem.
Starknet said developers can use STRK20 to add privacy features to a range of services, including transfers, swaps, lending, staking, payments and donations, without building a separate privacy system.
The framework relies on zero-knowledge proofs, which allow transactions to be verified without revealing transaction records.
As on-chain financial services expand, demand for privacy is also increasing. That is making privacy features a key competitive factor in blockchain infrastructure.
