For the first time, Roblox is bringing game creation into its mobile app. A new feature called Build, a dedicated creation tab inside the existing iPhone and iPad app, lets anyone type a text prompt and generate a basic playable game without writing a line of code, according to the Roblox newsroom today. That shift matters because of who Roblox’s players are: young, already on mobile, already inside the app every day. Putting a game-creation tool in the same place they play, free and prompt-driven, no desktop required, removes a barrier that previously kept a large share of the user base out of creation entirely, 9to5Mac reported today.
The launch is also a platform stress test. More creators at lower friction means more content, and Roblox’s discovery and safety systems now have to show they can keep AI-generated junk from overwhelming a platform that already hosts content of uneven quality. The company is explicit that the output is a “basic game,” not a polished product.
The feature runs on a combination of Roblox’s proprietary AI models and open-source models.
