Blizzard fix up Diablo IV crashing on SteamOS / Linux

With the most recent season update to Diablo IV, it caused a number of issues on SteamOS / Linux – which should now actually be officially solved.

Valve did previously get some quick work done in Proton Hotfix to get around Diablo IV crashing problems – but now Blizzard have put in an official fix so you should be good to go in future on whatever Proton version you like. Noted in the official forum from Blizzard:

HOTFIX 3 – July 10, 2026 – 3.1.0c – Battle.net and Steam

Bug Fixes

Fixed a crash that occurred on Steam Deck start up.
Fixed occasional crash in the in-game shop.

While they only note the Steam Deck, it was a general Linux problem. Good to see actual proper support like that – we need more of it on Linux and for developers to do some basic testing first.

Testing Diablo IV with the most recent basic Proton 11 release from Valve – it starts up and runs without issues now.
