Alphabet GOOG lost its appeal against a 4.1 billion, or $4.7 billion, EU antitrust fine tied to Google’s Android operating system.
The European Court of Justice dismissed Google and Alphabet’s challenge, upholding regulators’ finding that Google abused Android’s market dominance to favor its own search business. The ruling is legally binding and ends a case that began when the European Commission imposed the penalty in 2018.
