SportsEdTV Inc. will pay $500,000 to settle a proposed class action alleging it shared the viewing histories of subscribers with Meta Platforms Inc. without consent in violation of federal and state privacy laws.
Under a proposed deal given initial approval in federal court, each of the 1,264 class members will be eligible for a pro rata share of the net settlement fund. The plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary approval estimated the fund to be $349,800 after deduction of attorneys’ fees and expenses and administrative costs. Members of the California sub-class will be entitled to twice the pro-rata share.
