The program, including two innovation tours and innovation grants, is designed for independent regional and local media outlets in Ukraine.
The DW Akademie’s Innovation Lab 2026 on Artificial Intelligence (AI) will give media professionals the opportunity to improve editorial practices and the quality of journalism, as well as to develop new formats using artificial intelligence.
The event will include hands-on workshops where participants will refine their ideas for using AI in different spheres of modern newsrooms, in particular through mentorship and collaborative prototyping, the lab will support the development of innovative solutions, that will help newsrooms adapt to the challenges and opportunities presented by AI.
After the Innovation Lab selected outlets will receive a €5,000 innovation grant to prototype and develop their innovative solutionsfor increasing their efficiency and quality of their products during the period from November 2026 till February 2027.
