Apple tracks Safari users and shares their data with advertisers despite promises that the browser protects their privacy, a new lawsuit alleges.
The company infringed upon consumers’ privacy by allowing third parties to “learn intimate details about individuals’ lives” through a process called “fingerprinting”—where websites identify and track users through their browser data, plaintiff Sarah Simpson said in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
