Dear Rev. Graham: The tech craze and the AI boom is changing life on Earth faster than we can keep up with. Some say this technology will overpower the wisdom of God. Not true, right? – H.T.

Dear H.T.: The technology age is not necessarily new, but it’s accelerating faster than the human mind can comprehend. While the 21st century has climbed the bandwagon known as the technological revolution, technology has been around a long time in various forms.

In one generation, the people of Israel experienced a tremendous and dramatic change that made them a great power. A man by the name of David came to the throne of Israel, by the will and hand of the Lord, and became one of the great leaders of his generation. He was revered by the people and is still today, and remembered in such emblems as the Star of David.

About two centuries before David, a people northward from Israel had discovered the secret of smelting and processing iron. That skill spread, and in time David introduced the Iron Age to Israel. David laid up great stores of iron (see 1 Chronicles 22:3), and archaeologists have found evidence of that in the land.

Instead of crude tools made of sticks and stones, Israel had iron plows and sickles, as well as iron weapons. In some ways, the introduction of iron had an impact like the microchip has had on today’s generations.

While human ingenuity takes credit, the Bible of old proclaims, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom” (1 Corinthians 1:25, NIV). “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9, ESV). “The Lord grants wisdom!
