NEW YORK, NY – (June 16, 2026) – CNN announced today that Kyla Scanlon has joined the network as a Contributor & Economic Analyst. Scanlon is an economic commentator and creator reshaping how people understand money and markets, educating and inspiring the next generation by making complex economic ideas clear, relatable, and meaningful. Scanlon will focus on CNN Business, creating multi-platform explainers that speak to audiences trying to understand the fast-changing economic landscape.
Through her signature mix of analysis and storytelling, she covers the pressing issues of the day – from tariffs and artificial intelligence to the value of higher education and Gen Z’s evolving role in the economy for her more than one million followers across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and Substack. In 2025, for the 2nd year in a row, Scanlon was named to Barron’s 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance. Her New York Times bestselling book, In This Economy? How Money and Markets Really Work was released in 2024.
Raised in Kentucky, Scanlon studied finance, economics, and data analytics at Western Kentucky University.
