Chinese teams claimed double victories at the 8th Asian University 3×3 Basketball Championship in Putuo District, Zhoushan. Both champion teams will represent their continent in October the upcoming FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball.

As the highest-level and most influential continental exclusive tournament for university 3×3 basketball across Asia, the Asian University 3×3 Basketball Championship serves as the Asian qualifier for the FISU University World Cup 3×3 Basketball. This year’s event in Putuo, China featured a total of 23 teams from 9 countries and regions across Asia, including 13 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams.

The men’s final: Guangdong University of Technology vs. Tsinghua University

The men’s final delivered a breathtaking showdown between Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) and Tsinghua University. Both teams hit their rhythm immediately after the opening tip-off. GDUT scored first before Tsinghua quickly responded with a long-range shot. Powered by seamless teamwork, GDUT extended its lead to 7-4. Tsinghua regrouped promptly and lifted team morale with a powerful dunk.

The two teams traded baskets fiercely throughout the match, and the score was tied at 20-20 when the regular time expired, sending the game into overtime. In the extra period, GDUT sank a crucial three-pointer first and sealed a narrow 22-21 victory to lift the championship trophy.
