OpenAI has added another cybersecurity veteran to its roster, as the company looks to beef up its headcount across product development, engineering, research and sales.
Clint Gibler announced on X that he has joined OpenAI as a member of the technical staff and will be working with Michael Aiello, OpenAI’s head of product for cyber.
“I believe we have an unparalleled opportunity to fundamentally improve cybersecurity in ways that were previously impossible. Now, at OpenAI, I’m thrilled to be a part of a company helping shape how software is written, and how security work gets done. It is a massive opportunity, and responsibility, and I don’t take that lightly,” he wrote.
Prior to joining the ChatGPT maker, Gibler previously spent six years as the head of research at software development company Semgrep. He also worked at IT services and consulting company NCC Group working in several security related roles throughout his more than four year tenure.
Gibler is also the founder of a blog called tl;dr sec, which provides software development and cybersecurity research to industry professionals.

Other recent hires at OpenAI include former Ironclad CEO Jason Boehmig, who will lead its product team responsible for building products for the legal industry and Salesforce AgentExchange CEO Brian Landsman as its vice president of global partnerships.
The company plans to nearly double its workforce to 8,000 from 4,5000 by the end of the year, the Financial Times reported.
Several employees from the company have also left in recent months to join rival Anthropic.
Clive Chan announced his departure from OpenAI in a post on X. Chan worked at OpenAI for a little over two years as a member of the technical staff, and left earlier this month to join Anthropic in the same role.
