Independent assurance and risk management firm DNV has secured a contract to deliver cybersecurity services for the Santiago de los Caballeros monorail project in the Dominican Republic, as reported on June 11, 2026.

Collaboration and Approach

DNV’s rail assurance, advisory, and digital services unit will partner with engineering company EQP to assist project promoter Fitram in implementing proactive cyber risk management. The effort focuses on embedding security throughout the design, construction, integration, and testing stages. This strategy adheres to national and international cyber regulations and industry standards, such as TS 50701, IEC 62443, and the forthcoming IEC 63452 framework.

Systems in Scope

The contract covers safety-critical systems like signalling, train control, rolling stock, and power supplies, along with supporting electromechanical and digital systems, including ticketing and CCTV.

Line Specifications

The 13.2 km route will run from Cienfuegos in the city’s northwest to Pekin in the south, featuring 14 stations and a capacity of up to 20,000 passengers per direction per hour.

On June 10, EQP Managing Director José Díaz stated that partnering with DNV enables a structured cybersecurity approach across all railway and electromechanical systems, fostering a resilient and secure delivery for Fitram and the city.
