Planetary Annihilation: TITANS has a fresh update out now, and it should hopefully fix the Native Linux version for a lot of players who had issues.

The newer community team responsible for keeping it alive have been working in the background, talking to the community, and trying to update the game’s tech to work properly on more modern versions of Linux. PA used some tech (especially its UI) that even back when it released wasn’t particularly well supported – so they’ve had a fair amount of work to do.

From the announcement on Steam:

When the community commanders took over the release cycle for PA, we lost support for Linux in the new community-supported build process. At that time, we asked for help from the community, and you delivered. Thank you to all who shared workarounds, logs, advice, and testing. Without that support, we would not have been able to make the progress we are sharing today.

It took much longer than we wanted, but after several failed attempts, we have moved forward, and your mileage for running the game natively on Linux should be much improved. To be clear, we are still seeing cases of incompatibility, but we are seeing a significant improvement in the number of people who can run the game natively.

With this release now out, we would like to iterate and make improvements, so if you are having issues, please come to the Discord server and share your logs and successes. You might also recall from a previous release that there is an alternative launch option called linux_live. If you fail to launch the current release, it will be helpful to know if the linux_live version also fails.

If you are able to test the Linux version of the game and are interested in helping us test, as well as having early beta access to new releases, come to Discord, head to the announcements channel, and react with 🐧 to be considered for the Linux beta testing group.

As of the new update to the main game (June 10th), the latest version of the…
