With the announcement of macOS 27 Golden Gate at WWDC 2026, Apple finally bid farewell to Intel x86 support. This new operating system is fully restricted to the ARM architecture, allowing the company to optimize performance more deeplywithout the overhead of legacy translation layers. There are also other updates made to improve overall animations, allowing apps to launch up to 30% faster and accelerating AirDrop transfer speeds by up to 80%.

Apart from architectural changes, macOS 27 also includes many refinements to its Liquid Glass interface, fixing readability issues and more. With that being said, these are the devices that’ll get the new Golden Gate:
