Apple’s huge WWDC event has officially kicked off, and we’re finally getting a preview of what’s coming with iOS 27. Included in that is a smarter Siri AI chatbot coming, which is expected to operate similarly to ChatGPT — meaning it’ll be better at holding conversations rather than just following commands. However, you may be wondering if the new update will work with your iPhone.
Only three iPhones were removed from the eligibility list last year, which included the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max. We’ll help you find out if your current iPhone is compatible with iOS 27.
iPhones compatible with iOS 27
We have good news! Apple isn’t removing the iPhone 11 from its eligibility list this year. So if you have an iPhone 11 or newer, you’re in the safe zone. And of course, the newest iPhone lineup — the rumored foldable Ultra, 18 and Pro 18 models — will come equipped with iOS 27 already installed.

What happens if I don’t have an eligible iPhone?
If you want to continue using your older iPhone that isn’t supported by iOS 27, that’s fine for now. However, you’ll miss out on security updates which could potentially put your phone at risk for malware and other threats. Additionally, some apps may stop working if they require a certain version of iOS or later. And of course, you won’t have access to the new, smarter Siri.
When will iOS 27 become available?
Apple usually rolls out its latest iOS in mid-September. Last year, it released iOS 26 on Monday, Sept. 15. The giant tech company should make the announcement during its iPhone event later this year.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
