SonicWall today announced that XimpleIT, a Colorado-based managed service provider (MSP) focused on serving the legal sector, has implemented SonicWall Cloud Secure Edge to provide Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) across its law firm customer base. The deployment replaces traditional VPN infrastructure that exposed firms to credential-based attacks and lateral movement, introducing an identity-centric, policy-driven security model that assumes no connection is inherently trusted.
The initiative was prompted by a regional law firm that turned to XimpleIT after suffering a security breach linked to an unpatched legacy VPN. The incident highlighted a widespread challenge within the legal industry: while organizations had transitioned workloads to cloud applications and hybrid environments, their security frameworks often remained rooted in outdated perimeter-based models. Traditional VPNs created a single gateway into the network, and once access was granted, organizations lacked sufficient segmentation, enforcement and visibility into how compromised credentials could move throughout the environment.
According to XimpleIT, many legal organizations operate under the misconception that moving workloads to cloud-based platforms automatically improves security. However, distributed teams, offshore contractors, SaaS applications and remote collaboration technologies do not inherently provide strong security controls. When these factors intersect with hybrid infrastructures and expanding attack surfaces, law firms can face substantial cyber risk while maintaining limited visibility and control over their environments.
Through the deployment of SonicWall Cloud Secure Edge, XimpleIT transitioned clients to a Zero Trust architecture that validates both user identities and device posture before granting access. This approach removes implicit trust, restricts lateral movement and strengthens overall cybersecurity resilience. The platform also…
