WASHINGTON—Yesterday, Reps. Warren Davidson and Susan DelBene, alongside Sens. Mike Lee and Ron Wyden, introduced the Email Privacy Act, which would increase needed email privacy protections for all Americans. This is critical legislation to bring privacy law into the 21st Century and strengthen the Fourth Amendment for digital communications, and NetChoice urges Congress to pass it.

“Americans shouldn’t lose their Fourth Amendment rights just because their emails are stored in the cloud. The Email Privacy Act modernizes a decades-old law to reflect how people actually communicate today, and NetChoice is proud to support it. Requiring law enforcement to obtain a warrant protects consumers, strengthens trust in digital services and ensures the Constitution keeps pace with technology,” said Amy Bos, NetChoice Vice President of Government Affairs.
