Today we’re announcing that the SailPlan platform — the maritime monitoring technology we built for cruise, naval, and commercial fleet applications — has been acquired by Verret Marine Consulting, LLC. Chad Verret and his team will carry the technology forward, with a focus on predictive maintenance and machinery monitoring across the offshore, LNG, and commercial marine sectors.
Why Verret Marine
Chad spent four decades operating in the segments where SailPlan was designed to perform. Fourteen years at Harvey Gulf International Marine as Executive Vice President. President of Q-LNG Transport. Former Chairman of the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel. He drove the Harvey Deep-Sea — the first U.S.-flag LNG-fueled MPSV — and the Q-LNG 4000, the first U.S. offshore LNG bunkering articulated tug and barge.
When we built SailPlan, we built it for operators who actually run vessels. Chad is one of them. He understands what data is worth collecting, what a chief engineer will and won’t act on, and where unplanned downtime really costs money. That’s the right home for the technology.
What’s Next for the Platform
Under Verret Marine ownership, SailPlan’s high-frequency machinery and operational data capture will be applied to predictive maintenance and machinery monitoring use cases. Existing deployments will continue without interruption during the transition.
A Note from the Founder
Building SailPlan was the work of years, and shipping it to fleet-wide deployment with a major anchor customer was the proudest stretch of my career. The circumstances that led to this transaction weren’t the ones we planned for, but the outcome — handing the technology to someone with Chad’s depth — is the right one. I’m grateful to the investors, the team, and the operators who put SailPlan on their vessels and gave it a chance to prove itself.
I’m now focused full-time on Boatwork, the marine services marketplace I’ve been…
