The company made the annoucement in a post on X.

Better than blown up

Until the new app, CapCut users with Android tablets could use the app on tablets but it was just a bigger, unwieldy version of the phone app. And the desktop version, while feature-filled, was not exactly portable.

By contrast, CapCut Pad has a big workspace area, all the video and photo editing tools you’d expect, a large library of in-app fonts and effects, and features like keyframe animation, smooth slow motion, chroma key, and video stabilization. The app also supports export up to 4K, 60fps with HDR.

Users can access their projects from any device, so if you start work on a video on your phone but decide that you really need the space that a tablet or even a desktop allows for, you can move between all of them.

Free for now

available in the Play Store

The app is available in the Play Store right now, and is completely free at the moment: no download cost, no subscription, and all the features are included.

There’s no word on how long that will last. CapCut Pad for iPad was released back in December and is still free though, so you might have at least a few months to get TikTok famous enough for any subsequent costs not to matter.
