On May 19, 2026, detectives with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant for an address in Baxter Springs for crimes related to the sexual exploitation of a child.
George Ellis, age 75 of Baxter Springs, was arrested on a warrant that had been issued for sexual exploitation of a child and breach of privacy. Ellis was transported to the Cherokee County Jail, where he was booked.
