ST. PAUL, MN—The new Adhesive Mix Monitor from 3M provides real-time feedback on mix quality when dispensing two-part structural adhesives.
The system integrates with meter-mix equipment and consists of a disposable sensor and a small processing unit. The sensor collects measurements after the adhesive is mixed, but before it’s dispensed onto parts. It converts measurements into data and displays alerts on the processing unit or streams them to another device—giving engineers real-time feedback on the dispensing process wherever they are located.
The system provides real-time data about mix quality, temperature, time, and error events. Red and green indicators present data that is clear and easy to understand and alerts operators to dispensing issues as they occur, minimizing rework and reducing the need for slow and costly checks.
The system works exclusively with 3M two-part structural adhesives and easily integrates into existing assembly processes with simple setup, a small footprint, and just a few pieces.
“The 3M Adhesive Mix Monitor is a breakthrough way to control quality in two-part structural adhesives,” says Brent White, global adhesives director with 3M. “This new technology can revolutionize the adhesive dispensing process.”
