LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — Google is donating $1,000,000 to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to establish a statewide cybersecurity clinic network.
The network will bring together colleges and universities from across Arkansas to expand cybersecurity education, training, and workforce development.
More than 500 students are expected to be trained through the program over the next six years.
UALR computer science professor Sandra Leiterman says the program benefits more than just students.
“It’s important not only for our communities to be able to shore up their cybersecurity posture, but it’s also equally important to give access to students in rural communities to have the education and practice in their high-paying high-demand jobs,” said Leiterman.
The new network will also be part of the international consortium of cybersecurity clinics… which offers students access to numerous career pathways in the cyber security field.
